Cambodia Service Learning Trip
Two groups of students go to Cambodia each year to serve the local children. Initiated by a group of students who wished to build upon the efforts of the World Gallery of Hope service project, this project also aims to continue building long-term relationships with NGO partners and the local community. Volunteers visit slum schools and orphanages and organize various activities and service projects for the NGOs, including teaching English and planting trees. By serving the impoverished children and the NGOs, our students gain exposure to social issues in Cambodia.
Participants of the trip will be able to:
- Empower Cambodian children and youth, whether they are looked after by NGOs or not, to develop their potential through educational workshops
- Embrace cultural diversity and achieve cultural exchange by examining different aspects of the Cambodian community
- Gain an understanding of the social issues in Cambodia and how they affect children's development in the country
