Voluntary Teaching Program (VTP)

Formerly named as Summer Service and Learning Program (SSLP) in rural China, the program was initiated by Tsinghua University and supported by Tseng Hin Pei Charity Fund, Beijing in 2006 with the aim to offer university students from different regions and countries an opportunity to serve and understand China. 

Every summer, 120 Tsinghua volunteers and 120 volunteers from different universities all over the world are recruited and dispatched to 20 countries throughout various locations in rural China to serve the local students. Each team will consist of one Tsinghua teacher, five Tsinghua students and six non-Tsinghua volunteers. They will provide diversified community services including English teaching culture lectures and intercultural communication exercises, as well as engage in cultural exchange with the local students.
