Guizhou Service Learning Trip
Description
Since 2017, student volunteers have visited the remote villages and primary schools in Guizhou every summer, with the hope to support and empower the lives of the children there. Volunteers are responsible for planning and organizing activities and workshops to show their care to the village children. They also design and conduct need assessments in the remote villages, whose economic development has been hindered due to the mountainous environment.
Participants of the trip will be able to:
- Understand the needs and difficulties faced by the remote village children and their families through pre-trip workshops and interaction in village schools
- Empower village children through interactive themed workshops designed and led by participants
- Explore how HKUST volunteers could contribute to the remote village in the future
