HKUST Connect Service Leaders Network
"Me2" is the product from the UROP program - AI for Social Innovation: leveraging chatbots to combat sexual harassment. The project is inspired by many news reporting sexual harassment cases in university orientation camps. By building the chatbot, we aim to support the victims by providing them with a platform to report and raise public awareness of sexual harassment.
The chatbot can interact with users by having casual conversations, providing relevant information for education and allowing users to record the details of the case with proper guidance. Currently, we have successfully implemented the flowcharts of conversations as well as improving the flexibility of the content by using computer language C#. Moving forward, the chatbot is anticipated to be launched in the short future on university websites and some student mobile apps while enhancing the user experience. Ultimately, the team would like to make a positive impact in the lives of those who have experienced sexual harassment and would like to find a sustainable way to create a truly useful and effective tool.
We are looking for more students to join our team to develop the project for promoting the ideas of combatting sexual harassment together.
Who we are?
We started with just four members back in January 2021 by joining Connect for Change an idea competition organized by HKUST Connect, and now we are proud to say that our team has grown to nine members! We are a diverse group of students from the SBM, SENG, and SHSS, consisting of Year 1 and Year 3 students. Our team is made up of members from India, Mainland China, and the local community. Through our teamwork, we have been able to make friends from diverse backgrounds, and establish a strong footing in the HKUST environment.
