Connect for Social Good Celebration 2026
Over 150 HKUST students, staff, faculty advisors, and community partners came together in the Atrium on May 7, 2026 to celebrate a highly successful year of Social Good—an event officially opened by Provost Prof. Yike Guo, who spoke inspiringly about his vision for community engagement and transformative community work.

Looking ahead, I will focus on sharing my service and leadership experiences more with my peers and committing to greater participation.
I will regularly share the lessons I learned, from leading a sub-team in Indonesia to caring for vulnerable animals with my peers, whether through casual conversations or small group discussions. ... Carrying the empathetic leadership style I developed, I will bring these lessons to every team project and future role, turning my service journey into a more inclusive social good. Through HKUST Connect, I have grown from a curious participant into a purposeful leader, learning to lead with kindness, adapt with courage, and act with deep empathy. This journey is just beginning, and I am ready to keep learning, leading, and making a positive, inclusive changes.

I learned to prioritize the needs of the target audience over personal taste.
Early workshops on design thinking taught me to listen, adapt, and refine ideas. This mindset helped me shift from impractical prototypes to more functional designs, reinforcing resilience and flexibility in creative problem-solving.

This shift in perspective will follow me beyond volunteer work.
When a friend is struggling, I'll try to listen more and fix less. When I meet someone whose life looks different from mine, I'll be curious instead of judgmental. These experiences have moved me from being a passive observer to an active participant in human connection. It’s less about what I can do and more about how I choose to be.
