In response to the social isolation and cultural barriers often faced by ethnic minority seniors in Hong Kong, a team of Connect ACE students launched "Zen Zone for the Elderly." This thoughtful initiative was designed to foster healthy lifestyles and emotional well-being among ethnic minority seniors through inclusive cultural workshops.

Partnering with the Hong Kong Christian Service Support to Ethnic Elderly (SEE) Project, four Connect ACE students and 11 volunteers delivered two interactive workshops focused on healthy eating and traditional handicrafts. Throughout the sessions, the students actively helped the elderly participants to make "healthier chaat" and paper beads crafts. These activities bridged language and cultural barriers through warm, shared experiences. By exchanging cultural traditions and encouraging healthy living, the volunteers created a supportive space for genuine, joyful cross-cultural connections.

The positive impact of this student-led service was profound. It provided the elderly participants with a much-needed sense of community belonging while empowering our student volunteers with deep insights into multicultural empathy and the power of inclusive community care.
