The Changemaker Pathway is a self-paced discovery experience for anyone who wish to unlock their potential and utilize their skills and passion to create meaningful impact. Here, you will find insights, tools, and people who will help you empathize, lead, and collaborate with others to address important challenges facing our community.
We offer a diverse range of programs designed to challenge, build and transform your skills and mindsets as a Changemaker. Through two stages, the first focuses on self-discovery, skills development and understanding community needs, then the second emphasizes team-based solution creation and tangible actions taken to address social challenges through hands-on experiences tailored to each student's interests, own pace and schedule.
Community GO
Explore communities, understand their needs and social issues they face, and discover your own sense of purpose through this experience.
Changemaker Gear Up Training Series (GUTS)
Build your changemaking muscles to make a positive impact by developing your skills, expanding your knowledge, and stretching your resilience.
Connect for Change
Participate in community service projects, collaborate with students, staff, and alumni to tackle pressing social issues, while building connections with the local community.
Changemaker In Action
Supported by HKUST Connect, lead positive changes as a Changemaker, and extend your impact further by motivating and inspiring others on their own Changemaking journey.
Service Learning Trip
Enrich your global citizenship and immerse yourself in different cultures while directly impacting underserved communities abroad through hands-on service experience.
Student Civic Fellowship
Gain service experience and personal growth through collaborative projects with non-profits, social enterprises and companies, both locally and abroad,
How can I apply for the Changemaker Pathway?
Changemaker Pathway consists of 4 programs: Project C – Connect x Community, Changemaker Gear Up Training Series, Social Good Challenge and Changemaker In Action. Please refer to the program webpage for respective enrollment procedures and timeline.
Do I have to follow the pathway to join all programs in sequence?
The pathway is designed to guide you progressively through your changemaking journey from exploration to action. However, you are free to join any of the programs during the course of your HKUST studies at your own pace. For example, you can participate in Changemaker Gear Up Training Series in Year 1, then join Community GO and Changemaker in Action in Year 2.
Are the activities free of charge?
Yes! The programs are fully subsidized by the University. A refundable deposit may be required for some events.
Who is eligible for the Changemaker Pathway?
All current HKUST students can join the Changemaker Pathway, including undergraduate and postgraduate students.
