Volunteers assisting a VIP in hands-on experience of making Leicha

This project was initiated by a group of student leaders from Connect Ambassadors for Community Engagement (Connect ACE) in partnership with Hong Kong Blind Union, aiming to promote social inclusion for visually impaired people (VIPs) by helping them explore their surroundings and different cultures. Volunteers learnt essential skills for guiding VIPs during a training workshop before serving the VIPs. They designed a campus walk with multi-sensory elements and shared their university life with the VIPs. An experiential workshop was also offered to the VIPs to explore different cultures through making cultural snacks: "Halo-Halo" from the Philippines, kelpons from Indonesia, and Leicha from Mainland China.

This initiative not only fostered connections between volunteers and VIPs but also helped create a warm and inclusive environment. Participants left with a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by VIPs and the joy of engaging with the community in a meaningful way.
