Asia-US Service Learning Program (AUSL) 2011
The Asia-US Service-Learning Program @ Stanford is a four-week intensive program which brings together community-minded students from Asia (Japan, Taiwan, and Mainland China) and from Stanford University to learn about some of America’s and the world’s most pressing issues.
In AUSL 2011, the themes were health and disability, and environment and sustainability. Our students' educational experience included hands-on service projects, daily discussions, reflections with other international students, and meetings with professors and experts in the field.
All participants also took the opportunity to have cultural exchange activities with students from Stanford University and other Asian countries. Together they enjoyed social activities such as talent shows.
Toward the end of the program, participants carried out research and shared different approaches from their home countries to tackle the issues with other students. Finally, they collaborated to design a service project in the context of their own community.
