Wu Zhi Xing 2011
Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation (無止橋慈善基金) is a registered charity in Hong Kong established in 2007. Their mission is to build footbridges in remote villages in rural China with the help of Hong Kong and Mainland university students, thereby building a spiritual bridge with love, mutual understanding, and appreciation through inter-university initiatives.
The Foundation launched its first-ever charity walk at Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail on Sunday, 13 November 2011, to unite the efforts and caring hearts of tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. Donations raised through this event (after deducting expenses) will be used for supporting the operation and development of Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation.
The event attracted more than 1,600 participants including members of the 11 local tertiary institutions in Hong Kong, raising more than HK$1.8 million. With the support of more than 90 HKUST staff, students, alumni and family members, HKUST won the title of first runner-up of the Wu Zhi Xing Fundraising Award in Tertiary Institutions Category by raising more than HK$33,000 in donations.
