Exchange for Social Entrepreneurs and Leaders (XSEL) Program @ Stanford 2012
The XSEL Program, modified based on the Asia US Service Learning (AUSL) program, brings together aspiring change-makers from mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Stanford, and U.C. Berkeley for an intensive 4-week program on leadership and social entrepreneurship. Participants in the program engaged in project teams with local partners in Asia and the Bay Area studied innovations transforming education, environment, health, and poverty, and built solutions to take home to their communities.
All participants took the opportunity to exchange their cultures with students from Stanford University and other Asian countries. Together they enjoyed some social activities such as talent shows.
Toward the end of the program, participants carried out research and shared with fellow students different approaches from their home countries to tackle the issues. Finally, they collaborated to design a service project in the context of their own community.
