City Challenge 2013

‘Child Welfare Scheme’ (CWS) is a Hong Kong-based charity dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and young adults through sustainable projects focusing on education, healthcare and protection. They work with children, communities and partners, from remote rural areas to urban centers, striving to change the lives of children by giving back their rights.

The second City Challenge was held on Saturday, 2 March 2013, wherein 200 competitors in 40 teams of 5 raced around the streets of Central and Sheung Wan to raise much-needed funds for underprivileged families in Nepal. The theme of the race is ‘Nepal’ as this is where CWS delivers its effective life-saving programs that support over 30,000 children every year through education, health care, and social opportunities.

Despite the unstable weather that day, nothing stopped the participants from being so energetic and competitive! With the help of the student volunteers, all the checkpoints, pit stops, start-line, and finish-line were well-managed, and the event was carried out smoothly. Through this challenge, a total of $120,000 HK dollars was raised for the betterment of disadvantaged children and their families in Nepal.
