Volunteers teaching the children

Learning experience plays a vital role in childhood development. To enhance their sense of belonging and interest in science, our volunteers hosted some interesting experiments and a campus tour for a group of ethnic minority kids, thus bringing them new experiences and encouraging them to continue to lead active lives with a positive learning attitude.

Student Sharing

This is my first experience with HKUST Connect and also with EM (ethnic minority) Kids. Although they have difficulties in adapting to the education system (e.g. they do not understand Chinese/Cantonese well, they still displayed much eagerness and cheerfulness while learning.) I was happy to their joyous looks and them being so carefree. It was a pleasant experience for me.

SSCI, Year 2

It is a happy and meaningful activity. I enjoy playing with the children. They are active and their ‘never give up’ attitude impressed me. E.g. the electricity activity: they would like to try until the light bulb glows. Even they failed the experiment, they still put the smiles on their faces.
