"Paws" for Love 「爪」尋愛
Two groups of animal-loving volunteers spent an afternoon in Yuen Long attending to the basic needs of abandoned animals under SAA's care. It was a memorable experience as they helped to clean out cages, groom the animal, and play with them. Volunteers learned about the severity of the animal abandonment problem in Hong Kong and were thankful that they could contribute to the well-being of animals at the shelter.

Sitting in the cage while combing the dog beside me, looking at the surroundings of the dogs’ living area, I suddenly realized how fortunate I am. Just 15 minutes in the cage, I felt so suffocating, dying for freedom. What about them? The dogs? Are they feeling the same as I do? I have decided to attend the dogs training course to bring the dogs out at least for a day per week. To help them as much as possible. I can’t forget the thirst of freedom in their cage.

To be honest, I love animals including dogs and cats very much. However, my family does not allow me to keep a pet. Through joining this meaningful activity, I have a chance to show my sympathy to those abandoned animals and take care of them, such as grooming the dogs. Surprisingly, this is my first time taking care of large black dog. In the beginning, I was afraid of him. At the end, I treated him as my friend and chatted with him. This is a nice experience. I wanna join again on my own.
