Volunteers helping in the T-shirt making booth

To celebrate creativity in young people, volunteers assisted in the annual Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Programme that aimed to foster creativity and problem-solving skills. They helped to design a game booth and a T-shirt making booth that produced 200 pieces of hand-made T-shirts with potato stamping.

Description

Spending the day with kids made me realize how the simplicity of life can be enjoyed. Creativity showed by them on the DIY T-shirts reminded me of my childhood when I used to grab paper and colors randomly and start to put my thoughts into creation. I would love to do that again. I want to take out things that give me ultimate happiness. In the can game, the kids showed so much motivation that I want to learn that from them. Also, giving away my designed T-shirts made me feel like and artist, entrepreneur and good about myself.

We arrived early and I am glad that we were able to get set up quickly and play our roles and make things go smoothly. Many kids have arrived end enjoyed playing at our station. So far it has been great to service in this community challenge. Despite the language barrier I experienced, I was still able to overcome it by staying cheerful and welcoming to the children and participants. The event has also helped me become closer to other REDbird members that I had not been very in touch with.
