Repairing the Planet: Small Fixes, Big Changes

Participants attended a sustainability sharing session led by Mr. Peter Pang, Ambassador of Household Electronics Reborn (HER), to learn about Hong Kong's growing small electronic appliance (SEA) waste problem. Mr. Pang discussed key factors driving this increase, such as shifting consumer habits, declining product durability, and the tendency to discard rather than fix repairable items. He introduced HER’s initiatives to extend the lifespan of household electronics through repair and reuse, which helps reduce waste and promote a circular economy. Mr. Pang also highlighted the organization's environmental and social impact, sharing how successfully repairing and giving appliances a second life keeps them out of landfills. Ultimately, the session encouraged participants to rethink their consumption and disposal habits, showing how simple actions such as repairing and reusing everyday electronics can build a more sustainable future.
