Students visited Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR)’s Homing Centre in Tai O to learn more about the organisation's mission, daily operations, and the challenges it faces in rescuing and rehoming abandoned dogs in Hong Kong.

During the volunteering service, the students gained a deeper understanding of animal welfare issues in the city, including overpopulation, abandonment, and the need for responsible pet ownership. They also had the chance to show care and compassion to the rescued dogs by cleaning their kennels, walking them around the area, and assisting HKDR staff with renovation and maintenance tasks at the centre. This hands-on experience not only helped support HKDR’s work, but also fostered empathy and a sense of social responsibility among the volunteers.
