Volunteers bringing bread surplus back to the warehouse

During the HKUST SL Day Bread Run, volunteers helped pick up surplus bread from bakeries which were then delivered to Feeding Hong Kong. Across all of Hong Kong the Bread Run collected 800 pieces of bread from around 30 stores. The collected bread was redistributed by partnering NGOs to individuals and families in need.

Description

Taking bread to the drop off location was easy, but putting them into the bin is always easier. That's why more food is wasted instead of being re-accommodated to those who are in need. I am glad I have made this transition easier and could help to alleviate hunger in Hong Kong. In the long run, I will spread the message of conserving food and hopefully we will not need to undergo this process over and over again.

Another chance to serve for Bread Run! Every time serves as a reminder to not waste food and to appreciate all the food we have or consume every day. I really hope that the bread saved can reach more people and help those in need. I also hope I can serve the next time. A good learning experience. Thank you for the opportunity given.
