Following the outbreak of Covid-19, the number of elderly individuals living alone has significantly increased. One evident consequence of this situation is their heightened sense of loneliness, stemming from the lack of family companionship and limited engagement in social activities. With this in mind, students from the Next Changemaker program organized this activity to help the elderly connect with the community and enrich their leisure activities.

The activity comprised two sessions designed specifically for the elderly participants. In the first session, volunteers facilitated various games aimed at enhancing the cognitive abilities and memory of the elderly. The second session involved taking the elderly to places outside of their usual neighborhood area, including an HKUST campus tour. During their visit, our volunteers engaged in games with the elderly, fostering a bond between them and creating enjoyable memories.
