How to turn your ideas into action?

Two young changemakers from Singapore, Samantha Thian, the founder of Seastainable and Global Lead at Stridy, and Melissa Lam, the founder of Bamboo Straw Girl, were invited to share their inspiring stories with students, aiming to motivate them to turn their ideas into action. Samantha and Melissa are founders of two different social enterprises which target building a sustainable environment. During the talk, they shared their journeys of searching for things that they are passionate about, and how did they turn in into reality.
Samantha concluded that exposure to different possibilities and collaboration with people who have the same vision are the keys to making her dreams come true. On top of that, Melissa suggested small steps are always important since everyday choices and tiny actions will add up, leading to great changes. "Ideas are constantly evolving, so it’s always essential to keep trying, reflecting, and making improvements," said the changemakers.
Both agreed that balancing their interest and financial status was the major challenge during their journey. To overcome such obstacles, they either use the major source of income from their job to support their interest or make their interest into their business. Both speakers encouraged students to explore different possibilities, and not to hesitate in implementing them.
