Volunteers are giving a bowl of traditional Chinese soup to the elderly at the central door gate.

Since 2010, HKUST students volunteered to serve senior citizens in the Tseung Kwan O community monthly. In Sep 2021 volunteers reached 35 flats of single elderly or elderly couples in King Lam Estate. Volunteers distributed gift packs with healthy snacks, fruits, and a bowl of traditional Chinese soup to the elders. In Oct and Nov 2021, volunteers reached 190 elderly in Tseung Kwan O. Apart from delivering hot soup and gift packs, they also played games, did morning exercises, and watched a band show with the elderly.

They had quick chats during the visit to give care to the elderly who have not joined face-to-face activity for a long time. The time spent together enables HKUST students to build a closer relationship with the elders in the community.
