Guizhou Service Learning Trip 貴州服務學習之旅
After a year, HKUST volunteers returned to Guihzou again. We spent 4 days in 2 primary schools in Dousang village and Daihua Town and served more than 600 primary students. Primary students learnt English, Geography, Chemistry and Physics through interactive activities and science experiments. Other than teaching, our volunteers designed after-class activities for the primary students living on campus, e.g. mass games, animal mask design, basketball, etc. Through classroom teaching and after-class activities, both our student volunteers and the children had an unforgettable time together.
To deepen the understanding of the lives of the left-behind children and explore new service opportunities, volunteers in teams visited families in different village groups during the weekend. Furthermore, volunteers had a chance to transplant rice seeding. Through the home visit and farming, the team got to know the locals’ living environment and difficulties and challenges faced.
