Jiangxi Service Learning Trip (Jan 2016) 手牽「守童」行 — 江西服務學習之旅
19 HKUST students and 2 Connect Staff were back to Jiangxi again in 2016 winter. During the visit, the volunteers served at two separate primary schools in Huangtian village and Longjiang village, Jiangxi. In parallel with the previous trips, student volunteers organized and conducted interactive lessons on science and themed art for children. In addition, language expression skills and team building activities were introduced to the children to let them explore their creativity and potential. Both our student volunteers and the children shared many unforgettable memories together.
With the support from organizations in Hong Kong, sets of stationery donated by ARTspeaks and handmade scarves knitted by volunteers from Haven of Hope Bradbury King Lam Community Health Development Centre were brought to the Jiangxi children to support the children's study and to spread the warmth to the children in the cold weather.
Like previous years, student volunteers visited a social enterprise called “eco-Cultivation Organic Agriculture Development Farm (Ruijin) Co. Ltd.” in order to understand how organic farming operations positively impact the local Jiangxi community. Both the student volunteers and the children shared many unforgettable memories together, which will surely be cherished in the times to come.
