Face Masks and Hand Sanitizers Donation to the Needy 科大抗疫募捐行動 - 徵集口罩及酒精搓手液
Beneficiary: The Salvation Army Sunrise House
Recipients: Lodgers in the Sunrise House singleton hostel, including chronic patients, the unemployed, and low-income individuals
As the number of novel coronavirus cases rises in Hong Kong, the shortage of face masks and other disinfectant products continues to put a strain on our community. Even when stocks are available, they remain out of reach or unaffordable for the underprivileged.
If you are fortunate enough to have some supplies to spare, please consider donating to people in need.
The 283 lodgers at Sunrise House in Sham Shui Po are singletons in need of short-term accommodation with financial difficulties, including chronic patients, and people living on Comprehensive Social Security Assistance. Given the scarce supply and soaring prices of disposable masks, many of them simply cannot afford them, or are forced to reuse the limited supplies they have, fighting the coronavirus alone.
HKUST Connect is now collecting disposable face masks and hand sanitizers for this neglected group. Cooperating with our long-term partner The Salvation Army, the masks and hand sanitizers collected will be handed directly to the lodgers.
