Blood Journey Explorer 探索血液的生命旅程

To deepen students' understanding of the journey from collecting donated blood to distributing safe blood to patients in need, HKUST Connect organized a meaningful tour of the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service Headquarters.

Guided by the Hong Kong Red Cross medical practitioner, students visited the blood laboratories to learn more about blood inspection, categorization, irradiation, storage and transportation. Following the laboratory tour, a seminar sharing session helped students gain a clear picture on current community blood demand, the safe and strictly regulated process in blood transfusion and the importance of blood donation. This experience strengthened students’ awareness in blood donation and encouraged them to take a step forward in supporting a life-saving cause.
