Volunteer explaining STEM concepts to children

In collaboration with The Hong Kong Family Welfare Society, HKUST Connect hosted a STEM Egg Parachute Workshop on the HKUST campus to promote experiential learning. Designed to strengthen family bonds through interactive hands-on activities, the event brought parents and children together to design, build, and test their very own protective parachutes.

Our eight student volunteers played a vital role throughout the day, actively assisting families with assembly while fostering a warm, collaborative atmosphere. By introducing foundational STEM concepts like air resistance, gravity, and shock absorption in a playful way, the workshop successfully sparked the children's scientific curiosity and left families with cherished memories of teamwork and discovery. Beyond the building table, volunteers guided families on a scenic campus tour, offering them an exciting glimpse into university life.
