Food Recycling Action @Wet Market 糧善 - 剩食回收行動
In Hong Kong, a significant amount of food waste is generated and sent to landfills daily. This not only harms the environment but also contributes to unnecessary waste. To tackle this issue, a group of HKUST students visited wet markets in Tsuen Wan to collect surplus edible food and redistribute it to those in need.
During their service, the volunteers sorted and gathered edible food that would otherwise go to waste. They then distributed this food to individuals struggling to access nutritious meals. Through their efforts, the volunteers not only helped reduce food waste but also supported the community by assisting those facing challenges. The experience deepened the students' understanding of sustainability and the importance of social care.
