Students visited Hong Kong Bunny Rescue (HKBR)’s shelter in Tsuen Wan to learn about the unique challenges of rabbit rescue and the organization’s efforts in promoting proper rabbit care and adoption awareness. The visits offered insights into the growing issue of rabbit abandonment and the misconceptions surrounding rabbits as low-maintenance pets.

During the sessions, student volunteers supported the daily operations of the shelter by helping clean the living spaces and ensuring a comfortable environment for the bunnies. They also had the opportunity to interact with the rabbits in a calm and gentle setting, learning about their personalities, needs, and individual rescue stories shared by HKBR staff. The experience allowed students to reflect on the importance of empathy, responsible pet ownership, and the often-overlooked care required for smaller companion animals.
