In the last Spring Term, a group of 17 students embarked on the HKUST Sail and Shine Program. This unique experience empowered them with a series of trainings and workshops, aiming  to equip them sailing experience and skills to create a meaningful service for their chosen recipients.

Throughout the Yacht Trainings, participants gained insight on seamanship and knowledge with hands-on practice in boat operation such as buoy anchorage, docking alongside pier and navigating the iconic Victoria Harbour, they gained invaluable experience and exposure.

To further enhance their capabilities, participants also attended workshops on design thinking, to allow them to gain a deeper understanding of the needs and aspirations of their target service users, enabling them to deliver services with greater impact.

During April and May, participants from teams launched their service projects for several local community groups from lower-income families by transforming their ideas into activities. They are making a difference through the Sail & Shine program!
