Festive Food Drive 聖誕節食物募捐活動 2022

In Hong Kong, over a million people live in poverty and have $30 or less to spend on food. Meanwhile, we discard 3,600 tons of food waste per day, equivalent to over 8.5 million meals. To bridge the gap between surplus and need, this festive food drive was organized to assist families in need and provide them with a warm Christmas.

A donation area was set up on campus, where people at HKUST donated food items such as rice, noodles, and canned food. Feeding Hong Kong then collected our food donations and distributed them to underprivileged families in our city. This event not only helped families in need during the festive season, but also raised awareness about the imbalance between surplus and the need for food supplies.
