“I am neither male nor female” – Dialogue with Genderfluid advocate Siu-fung

Siu-fung, a genderfluid advocate and a transgender athlete, was invited to share with students their journey of exploring gender identities. They also had discussions on gender issues in sports with students. 

In the talk, Siu-fung introduced some basic gender concepts, including gender identity, gender expression, anatomical sex, and sexual orientation, as well as terms such as genderqueer and transgender. After that, Siu-fung shared their own journey of exploring gender identities and sexual orientation. 

As a bodybuilder, Siu-fung competes in women’s category. They shared about their experience of competing in bodybuilding as a genderqueer and how they see the complexity of gender in sports. Students were curious about gender issues in sports, such as concern about fairness about transgender athletes joining women’s teams. By Siu-fung’s sharing, students had more understanding of gender diversity.
