Virtual Tour in Tai O Community (Jan 2021)大澳社區網上遊

This virtual tour in Tai O is part of an Experience under Project C - Connect x Community that aims to motivate students to explore different communities and bring their attention to social issues that are often being ignored.

During the tour, social workers from Tai O introduced different cultural heritage sites and the history of Tai O to our students on Zoom. Examples include the history and tales of the Tin Hau Temple and the Guan Di Temple. This raised their curiosity about different communities and cultures. Different local artworks, unique housing structures, and bridges were also presented during the tour to bring students' attention to the local heritage in Hong Kong and the cultural values behind them. Apart from the architecture in Tai O, the speaker also talked about different social issues, such as the aging problem in Tai O to raise students’ awareness of different social issues. 

Towards the end of the talk, most students agreed that the tour successfully raised their attention to social issues such as the lack of cultural preservation in Hong Kong. They also showed their willingness to give a helping hand in raising public attention on cultural heritage in Hong Kong.
