Combat Fraud with Elderly 滅罪耆兵
"Combat Fraud with Elderly" is a project initiated by one of the teams of Connect ACE (Ambassador for Community Engagement) 2018/19 that aims at raising the elderly's awareness towards street deception.
The elderly attended interactive workshops on HKUST campus to develop a basic understanding of the different types of street deception cases. They also gained greater confidence in handling the fraudsters, after learning how to respond tactfully. They were then paired up with HKUST students to conduct door-to-door education to prevent other elderly residents from getting into deception traps.
The project concluded with a carnival hosted at the elderly's residential estate that helped consolidate what the elderly have learnt. From the big and confident smiles on the elderly's faces, volunteers were assured that after this experience, they will be able to protect themselves better from street deception.

很開心可以與長者義工一起洗樓和設立攤位遊戲教授長者們防騙知識。整個過程與長者們相處得很開心。雖然只是小小的攤位遊戲，但長者義工們都是很積極地提醒長者們小心受騙。長者們也認為有用，向我們表達感謝。活動雖短，遊戲雖簡單，但意義不小!

This is my first time to initiate a service project. I had a great time working with my teammates and the elderly. To my surprise, the elderly were very smart and talkative. It was, overall, a rewarding experience to promote anti-fraud awareness among the elderly through the carnival and visiting their homes.
