Green Playground for Dementia 綠色腦樂園計劃
Mrs Choi Ma Oi Kuen Public Service Leadership Program Award (PSL) is a year-long development program which aims at developing students' leadership skills and a sense of social commitment through training and social service projects.
One of the Public Service Leaders (PSLs) initiated a project to serve the elderly who suffered from dementia. Volunteers stimulated the sensory abilities of dementia patients by conducting different horticultural activities, for example, decorating flower pots, planting and making anti-bug balm. Both our students and the elderly enjoyed the four sessions of training and creating these simple handicrafts.

第一次接觸認知障礙症的長者，都好開心可以同佢地相處左四個禮拜。呢四個禮拜感受到佢地對於生命嘅嗰種樂觀積極。每一次我地去到，佢地都會好客氣，又問我地駛唔駛坐，駛唔駛食野，又成日讚我地好有愛心。佢地成日話「無愛心黎唔到呢到」，我初頭聽都覺得好好笑。不過其實諗真啲，係一句好有道理嘅說話。希望自己永遠都做到一個有愛心嘅人。

第一次接觸有認知障礙症的長者，感覺上與平時在網上/其他平台所講的認知障礙症長者有很大出入! 本以為可能會有溝通上的困難，例如他們會發脾氣，又或者不作聲。但第一次活動時就發現他們與普通長者無異。不過是帶一點孩童才有的小性格!很幸運地三次活動都是和同一位婆婆相處。雖然她身體機能較差，記性可能不太好 (每次都不認得我)，但我反而覺得可以把每一次相處的時間當作是唯一一次，或最後一次來珍惜。與她一起的時光雖然很短暫，但我仍會記得這一次寶貴經驗所得的得著。
