Joining hands with the "Ageing-in-Place" Scheme of the Housing Society, volunteers helped to refurbish the metal gates of elderly singletons’ homes in Cho Yiu Estate, while reconnecting them to the community through the visit.

Those residents were very welcoming and they looked very happy with our presence at their doorstep. Perhaps it is not because of the help to a labor intensive job, but the fact that there is finally a visitor.

We will all get old someday and companionship as well as empathy are important. So if you have elderly in your family, spend more time with them. If you don’t, try taking a step forward to care for and spread the love to the elderly in the community.

Felt really good while helping the people in need. Even though it was exhausting, the smile on the elderly’s faces when they saw the painted gates made me forgot everything about the fatigue.
