Rock Cleaning Angels 洗石天使

Volunteers helped clean the graffiti on Amah Rock. Through the service, we hope to spread the message of environmental protection, and let students know more about the severity of human impacts on environmental destruction, as well as the amount of remedial measures needed to restore the beauty of nature.

Rock Cleaning Angel was a great experience. It’s really tiring. At times, we felt like we weren’t making much difference by merely cleaning the graffiti off the rocks. Yet, by taking a picture before and after the cleaning, we could see a change. I hope that more people would come and join this meaningful service to help cleaning the rock. Every hard work counts!

At first, I thought this service should be an easy job. I expected solvents would be provided for cleaning the rocks. Instead, we use sand papers as chemicals will create negative impacts on the environment. Actually, it is difficult to use sand papers to rub the paint off the rock, we could only remove a small portion of paint.
During our service, we found that many hikers seemed to be interested in our work. I hope that we can promote a message to the hikers that it’s time for us to stop painting on rocks and protect the environment.
