Good Healthy Eats 食「營」啲啲

A team of Connect ACEs (Ambassador for Community Engagement) 2017/18 cooperated with "The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Jockey Club Ping Shek Youth S.P.O.T." to organize this 4-session service project with the aim to teach kids from low income families to make healthy meals with limited budget.
In this program, volunteers held different activities for the kids to teach them that healthy food can be tasty too. They have tasted some healthy snack choices and learnt about the nutritional value of the food from the food labels. In the second session, they visited the supermarket to look for healthy food choices. They have also learnt to make different healthy food on their own in the third and fourth sessions. The volunteers and the children had a fun time together. Through different activities, the children have learnt more about healthy lifestyle and the importance of having a healthy diet.
Student Sharing
It’s really a good experience doing some cooking with the kids, they always surprise me and let me feel warm. It’s like facing my younger self when I look at the kids. I hope she will appreciate more about herself, her ability and be more confident. Spending time with the kids is also a fantastic way to escape from the work pressure, which also benefited me a lot.
