Food Rescue 食物拯救隊

Food waste contributes 36% of the total municipal solid waste in Hong Kong. The disposed 3,300 tons of biodegradable food waste is taking up the limited landfill area. To combat this, the local green group Ever Green Association has continued their effort since 2013 to decrease the amount of food waste with the campaign “Food Rescue ” (食物拯救隊). HKUST students joined the service to help collect unsold fresh vegetables from wet markets, then sort and redistribute them to the elderly in need.
