Jiangxi Service Learning Trip (Jun 2017) 手牽「守童」行 ─ 江西服務學習之旅

19 HKUST students and 2 Connect Staff were back in Jiangxi again in 2017 summer. During the visit, the volunteers served at two separate primary schools in Huangtian village and Longjiang village, Jiangxi. Similar to previous trips, student volunteers organized and conducted interactive lessons on cultures, science and mathematics for children. In addition, our students visited a few families in Huangtian village which allowed them to have a better understanding on left-behind children and the rural life in China.
With the support and help of past trip participants, stationery, book shelves and some computer equipment were brought to the Jiangxi children, which can facilitate their learning improve their learning environment.
Additionally, student volunteers visited a social enterprise called “eco-Cultivation Agriculture Development Organic Farm (Ruijin) Co. Ltd.” in order to understand how organic farming operations positively impact the local Jiangxi community. They also experienced a farming life and enjoyed the organic food.
Both our student volunteers and the children shared many unforgettable memories during the 6-day service trip, which will surely be cherished in the times to come.
