A group of students who have joined the Jiangxi Service Learning Trip earlier this year were inspired by the experience and believe that they can do more for the children beyond the trip. They have mobilized the HKUST community to join hands in raising fund to purchase stationary and personal care items. They will bring the purchased items to Jiangxi in the upcoming June.

After a series of planning and preparation, I am so glad that “Take a Step Further” fund-raising has been successfully carried out and received great support from fellow students and HKUST staff. In this post-service trip service, I have learnt a lot. For instance, explaining the vision of our fundraising to others effectively. Apart from this, I also observed that many students and staff are indeed kind-hearted and willing to help the needy by giving out a small amount of money to support our event. Yet, the majority of students may not be very socially-awarded that they didn’t even spend time in listening. In the future, I am determined to engage the students around me to take a step further to help others.
