HKUST volunteers accompanied mentally challenged adults to explore and learn more about their neighborhoods, including how to access and use different resources and facilities available, with the aim of helping them to experience a more vibrant community life.

很多人會帶著另類的眼神看智障人士，那只是因為他們不認識，不了解和不肯接受他們。起初，我也許是那一撮人，但透過這次意義非凡的活動，我和智障人士相處的時間多了，令我對他們固有的印象徹底改變。他們的言語和行為與普通人沒有明顯的分別，有時還比一般人開朗和孝順。而且他們也能在工場工作，貢獻社會，有時候只缺大眾的關懷和支持。只要我們多付出愛心，他們也能活出精彩和快樂的人生。

完成這個義工計劃，除了對智障人士加深了認識外，更認識多了弱勢社群的需要。智障人士原來並不如想像般沒有照顧自己的能力，他們的創意、健談甚至令我有點敬佩。例如：他們除了會在工場工作，還有個別學員會趁著假日自行到老人院探望母親。我明白到智障人士並不一定不能在社會立足，只要我們多給予關懷和機會，他們定能找到自我價值，活得精彩。
