Dulux providing painting workshop to students

Further to the Workcamp @ Tai O Community (大澳工作營) in Dec 2012 organized by HKUST Connect, the second Workcamp was conducted from 14 to 17 January 2014.

Our students stregthened their skills in service and activity design for children and elderlies in Tai O and improved their coordination and logistics management such as stilt house renovation in four pre-trip workshops. In this year, Dulux Paints HK continue to sponsor the paint and tools for the refurbishment service and also tailor made a training session for our volunteers to teach them about basic painting techniques and characteristics of different kinds of paint.

During the Workcamp, our students repainted 10 worn-out stilt houses for local elders. They also supported the HKYWCA Tai O Community Work Office by carrying interviews which aim at assessing the health and the home safety with the aged members in Tai O community. Our students also launched workshops for Tai O primary school students to enhance their learning motivation and aid goal setting. Furthermore, a carnival was held to introduce healthy diet and increase home safety awareness to aged members in Tai O. In this 4-day-3-night Workcamp, all students enjoyed staying in tradition stilt houses and preparing breakfast and dinner together.
