Huangshan Service Learning Trip has been initiated since June 2011.  This is the third time that HKUST volunteers continue to put their effort in serving the primary school children in Huangshan, Anhui Province, China. Supported by the HKUST Connect and sponsored by a private donation, 20 students together with 2 staff provided basic science teaching classes and interactive themed workshops for Primary 1 to 6 children at the Huangshanqu Sankou Zhongxin Xuexiao (黃山區三口中心學校小學部) and a village school Wangjiaqiao Xiaoxue (汪家橋小學). Volunteers also visited local families to show them our genuine care and to understand the lifestyle and difficulties of the local people in rural China.

Before serving the children in Huangshan, our volunteers attended pre-trip workshops to prepare their science teaching contents and themed workshops, and also to learn about how to interact with children effectively. After the 6-day service learning trip, our volunteers fostered friendship with the local children and all of them had an unforgettable time in Huangshan.
