Further to last year’s success, eight returning participants led two batches of students to serve the mentally-challenged adults in Fall Term 2013 and Spring Term 2014 respectively. In the fall term, they organized three workshops including transport in Hong Kong, money saving, sport and self-caring to enhance the service recipients' motor coordination and to improve their daily living skills. Another three workshops were held in the spring term. The recipients learned the direction, food and festivals of different countries. In April, the volunteers also organized an outing at the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens and which the service recipients enjoyed very much.

Throughout the whole year, both the service recipients and the volunteers enjoyed the fun time together, and they built deeper relationship. Our students had a better understanding of the daily life of mentally-challenged people and learned to appreciate people of diverse backgrounds.

The wonderful thing about service is that it makes impact through sequential services instead of just enjoying that moment. It is so nice to see the huge progress the recipients have made comparing to the last time. And I hope more students can feel that happiness from long term services.
