Walking hand in hand with VIPs (Visually-Impaired Persons) 聆光一觸 - 視障人士服務

Student volunteers paired up with teenagers who are visually impaired for a series of activities organized by HKUST ACE (Ambassador for Community Engagement). Our volunteers enjoyed walking around and introducing the HKUST campus to the VIPs (Visually impaired persons). In the cooking workshop, both of the volunteers and the teenagers learned to work together in making cheesecakes and dumplings. The trip to Cheung Chau was also a memorable one in which the VIPs and our students visited different tourist spots and tried local foods and snacks. The most exciting part was surely riding the family tricycle together! These activities provided a great chance for teenagers from different backgrounds to interact with each other.
Student Sharing
It is really an inspiring experience to share the day with the VIPs. Even though they don’t experience and see some colors in this world, they still appear more enthusiastic and warm-hearted than I could have imagined. I gained an all-new perspective from what they have told me. The food we make together was yummy too!
