Connect Ambassadors for Community Engagement (ACE) is a yearlong development program focused peer-to-peer advocacy and community engagement. The program aims to bring together civic-minded students to initiate service learning projects that address genuine community needs and to motivate and lead fellow students to serve the wider community.

Starting from October 2012, one of the groups from Connect ACE partnered with the Hong Kong Housing Society to serve singleton elders residing in Cho Yiu Chuen, Lai King. Being part of the Ageing-in-Place Scheme coordinated by the Housing Society, ACEs planned a series of activities for the service recipients around Chinese Lunar New Year in 2013.

The activities included assisting in cleaning up homes for the new year, re-painting iron gates, teaching the elders to create festive decorations with simple materials, and finally, ending the program with an interactive Spring Lunch in February 2013. Volunteers participating in the program were highly encouraged to attend all three sessions of the program, strengthening the bond between the elders and the volunteers.
