A rewarding day on the beach!

Due to Typhoon Vicente that struck Hong Kong on July 23, a ruinous spill of plastic pellets was found scattered on the beaches and in the surrounding waters of Hong Kong. Although volunteers all over Hong Kong stepped in to help with the cleanup efforts, more plastic pellets were continuously washed onto the shores every day. Worse still, some of the pellets are hidden under trash along the beaches which makes the collection of pellets difficult. In view of this situation, a group of HKUST volunteers joined hands to help clean the beach in Cheung Chau and to protect the marine environment from the negative effects of the spill.
