The whole team learning the skills of caring for underprivileged families

With 3 returning student leaders from last year’s HKUST Service Learning Day Student Leader Program and 12 new members, a team of 15 Student Ambassadors joined together to continue motivating their peers to serve. Like last year, they attended training workshops on service learning, leadership, project planning, and other topics. In January 2012, all Student Ambassadors participated in a local service to visit underprivileged families in Sham Shui Po to gain a better understanding of the issue of poverty in Hong Kong. Working closely with HKUST Connect, the Student Ambassadors designed and implemented various promotion strategies such as e-board video advertisements and a promotions counter. Also, they took an active role in inspiring friends and university members to join the SLDay during the Call for Action Day. Thanks to their great effort, SLDay 2012 soared to an even higher enrollment rate with about 900 university members joining 45 service projects over the weekend!
