Students helping remove the old floor of the house.

Habitat for Humanity China has joined hands with the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) Tai O Community Work Office, villagers in Tai O and Tai O Rural Community in launching a house restoration project in 3 phases from 2010 to 2013, in which the restoration scales up in each phase.

The first phase started in June 2010 and involved restoration of stilt houses for 4 poor elderly residents who had urgent needs for house improvements. Students in 2 teams worked together with other volunteers from different corporate and local workers in repairing structures and access, replacing worn-out internal fixtures, installing/upgrading of sanitation facilities and other works.
