World Gallery of Hope (Summer 2010)
The objective of this service-learning project was to provide an opportunity for the children of ethnic minorities and underprivileged backgrounds within local communities to explore their creative capabilities through a 2-week program on digital photography and story-telling techniques offered by HKUST student volunteers. Apart from teaching some of the children how to produce digital photo essays using simple software, we hope that the project will help increase the awareness of the needs of underprivileged children in Hong Kong and generate more innovative service ideas to support the community. The objectives of the project are to let the HKUST students see the world through the children’s eyes, to feel what creative learning is like in a layman's perspective, and to let the children express their creativity.
